Because I did an internship in an elementary 6th grade class when I was in high school, and I work as a P.E. teacher in an elementary school, I already knew before taking this class that I wanted to be a teacher. The service learning done during this class did not affect my decision at all. However I did enjoy getting to do the service learning because I got to work more closely with, and get to know a teacher I work with at Sierra Bonita. She was able to help me know what types of things I could do now to get ready to teach in the future. She shared where she got some of her lesson plans and various materials with me. She gave me some copies of her brain breaks and encouraged me to start purchasing books for my future classroom now rather than later. My next steps from here are to obviously finish the semester. I will be finishing my generals during the summer and fall. My goal is to get into the teaching program next spring. After fini...
